Saw Operators are responsible for setting up and operating various metal power saws to slot, cut, and trim metal materials. The saw operator will process daily work orders to determine material dimensions and tolerances, metal to be cut, blade tension, cutting speed, feed rate, and positions of stops and guides. At times may also be assigned to operate additional machinery: tube benders, roll forms, plasma cutters, and grinders etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work from blueprints to produce projects according to specifications.
- Select and install appropriate blades as well as replacing blades.
- Verify dimensions of finished material using measuring devices
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
