SUMMARY

Fabricates and assembles metal products, and supports others doing the same, by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Operate welding equipment (MIG, TIG &/or Spot) to weld components together.
  • Sets up welding equipment
  • Blueprint reading.
  • Lifts, positions, and removes pieces for welding.
  • Marks reference points to assist in layout.
  • Loads, stacks, and transports stock and work in process by hand or truck.
  • Attaches grappling equipment to pieces to prepare piece for moving by crane or jib.
  • Grind, clean, polish parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools
  • Performs visual inspection of all components handled and some dimensional inspections using simple measurement devices
  • Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment. Performs other routine duties.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review work orders and paint specs to ensure awareness of job requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Apply protective coatings to large industrial structures
  • Use proper protective equipment, and maintain required hygiene for respirator
  • Obtain and mix paint ingredients in accordance with the manufacturer’s specs to ensure paint is the proper consistency
  • Spray units by hand to ensure proper paint application, as needed
  • Continuously inspect painted parts or units to ensure proper coating application, and make spray gun adjustments as needed
  • Clean, mask, and sand units in preparation for painting
  • Unmask units, clean and load spare parts on units after drying process is completed
  • Maintain clean and organized equipment and paint booth (i.e. sprayer equipment, and application tools – brushes)
  • Assess issues with surface preparation
  • Assist in identifying welds and excessive splatter to be repaired
  • All other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

A robotic welding operator is responsible for programming and operating the welding robot to complete a variety of welding tasks. This can include setting up the robot for a specific welding job, programming the robot to perform the necessary welds, and monitoring the robot to ensure that it is working properly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reads job specifications (e.g. blueprints, quality control plans and/or traveler notes) to determine type of welding and material requirements.
  • Inspects and measures machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Moves machine controls and guides to adjust machine.
  • Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
  • Performs basic MIG and TIG welding techniques as needed.
  • Maintains company quality, efficiency, and productivity standards.
  • Uses equipment and supplies to perform work in accordance with operational standards.
